3-20-2018 – apply AFT formulated in the new OMEGA Citrus encapsulation product at the ratio of 9 oz per gallon onto an older (10+ year) residential cut pile nylon that was untreated from the mill. The next carpet was also an untreated nylon loop or of a commercial type. The blue carpet is an older (15+) Olefin fiber that is a residential length. Product was covered with a weighted piece of glass to separate both sides. The cleaned/treated side was sprayed by the use of a trigger sprayer and brushed into the fibers and allowed to dry at room temperature for 24 hours.

3-21-2018 ­– After the 24 hours passed I applied Rust-Oleum Ultra cover black spray paint, spray on CRC Industrial Dry Moly Lube, red Sharpie permanent marker, Proline wet n wild eyeliner and a Staples DuraMark black marker (harder then a Sharpie to remove) These also dried for a 24- hour period before we tried to remove them.

3-22-2018 – The removal strategy is straight forward. Both the treated and untreated side will be sprayed with Surround No-Rinse spotter and brushed in and just rubbed with a white microfiber towel. If this fails then a small amount of OMEGA Gum Grease and Ink remover will be applied and also brushed in. All will be rinsed with a cold clear water. A small amount of Oxy Spotter was applied and toweled off as the final step. No harsh solvents or paint removers will be used.

The goal is to show that AFT can reduce the effort needed to clean carpet and textile once the fibers have been cleaned with and treated with this ingredient. As paint and industrial lubricants are certainly challenging to remove, the use of AFT in a maintenance carpet cleaning program should reduce chemical usage and effort on normal everyday cleaning soils. AFT will help stop petroleum substances from bonding to face fibers causing rapid resoiling and returning spots commonly known as wicking. The off the roll looped nylon in this test did not do as well as in a previous round of testing that had 8 ounces per gallon and maybe less applied to the rug possibly causing it to cure quicker then in this test.
